Its aims are: construction, survey and management of information resources according to users’ demands; construction and maintainance of database systems and service of special information resource; provision of reader services; book borrowing and lending services; interlibrary loan and document delivery services; book and journal depositary management. Other important functions are undertaking disciplinary information services, introducing information resources and training users. In addition, it also takes the responsibilities of Lanzhou Science and Technology Novelty Search Center of CAS, Science and Technology Information Analysis Evaluation and Research Center, Japanese Science and Technology Information Center and EU-German Information Center.
