In the afternoon of 26th April, the 14th project “Regional Carbon Emission and Production Carbon Footprint” of the “Strategic Priority Research Program – Climate Change: Carbon Budget and Related Issues” undertaken by the Lanzhou Branch of the National Science Library of Chinese Academy of Sciences was initiated in the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, CAS. The chief scientist of this priority research program Daren Lv and Xiaobo Ren, Jinliang Zhai and Tao Zhao from the program office participated in the kick off meeting. The project leader and Person in charge of the detail subjects also took part in the meeting. 

During the kick off meeting, the project leader and research fellow Yi Wang reported the research design and work arrangements of inception period. The responsible person of the first subject “regional carbon emission and emission reduction quota” , research fellow Zhiqiang Zhang reported the research requirement, research content, technical route, research plan, administrative mechanism and prospected achievements etc.. The responsible person of the second subject “the carbon footprint of major export production” and research fellow Jianxin Yang reported the general target, principle research content, technical route, annual research arrangement, prospected achievements and indemnity measures. The experts and leaders participated in the meeting raised detail guidance opinions according to the technical routes and key questions of the two research subjects. They requested the project to fully commence soon, to push forward research works substantially and to acquire phasic achievements. They also requested the project and various subjects to insist on the principle of serving the country and to provide constructive suggestions and systematic scientific support for relative scientific strategic decisions on national carbon emission through carrying out sturdy and meticulous fundamental research works.

After the meeting, the project members discussed and arranged recent work emphasis and advancing plan.
