The Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain, recently issued knowledge base evaluation results "Top 400 Repositories" in its Ranking Web of World Repositories. The knowledge system of Environmental and Ecological Science Data Center for West China, which has been constructed by Lanzhou Branch Library, has been selected Number 259 of its ranking list of Top 400 Repositories. It is also the only Chinese system in "Top 400 Repositories".

The knowledge system of Environmental and Ecological Science Data Center for West China is the subproject of the NSFC Project "Environmental & Ecological Science Data Center for West China". At present, WESTDC has completed the development of its integrated platform and has collected and released an amount of key ecological and environmental data sets for west China. Since the system has been released and providing service, it has exerted positive influence in the information providing and application institutions in the fields of environmental and ecological science.
